We have one four-drawer file cabinet of genealogical information, organized by surname.  The type and quantity of information included varies by family.  Much of our information was compiled through research by Mary B. Slade, during her work on a town history.  We have copies of some vital records, as well as some early church (baptism, marriage) records.  We have copies of Thetford's Census from 1790 through 1880, which typically includes members of households, their age, place of birth, and occupation.

The Thetford Town Clerk's Office is also a source of information, and the town is fortunate to have a complete set of vital records and deeds dating back to the town's founding.  The Clerk's Office is also a source of school records, as school registers are stored there.

Those doing research are welcome to visit our library and archives during the open hours listed at right.  The Historical Society is also happy to perform searches for genealogical information.  We charge for copies and research time.  Send your queries via e-mail or standard post (so that we have your specific questions in writing).
